The Movement for Quality Government in Israel (MQG)<\/b> is a non-partisan, independent, and not-for-profit organization that has worked since 1990 to defend Israeli democracy, ensure transparency, and promote good governance.<\/p>

For 35 years, MQG has led the charge to protect the rule of law and hold public officials accountable \u2014 in the courts, in the Knesset, and in the streets.<\/p>


Fighting Corruption:
<\/b><\/p>

MQG is on constant alert to expose and prevent abuses of power that violate Israel\u2019s legal and constitutional safeguards. We lead the fight against political corruption and government overreach at both national and local levels. In recent years, MQG spearheaded the campaign to stop the Judicial Overhaul, protecting the independence of the judiciary through legal action and massive civic engagement<\/p>


Policy and Legislation:<\/b><\/p>

We operate actively in the Knesset \u2014 promoting democratic reforms, drafting responsible policy proposals, and advocating for streamlined government operations. Especially during times of national crisis, we push to eliminate bloated ministries and advance policies that reinforce institutional accountability and public trust.<\/p>


Safeguarding Public Funds:<\/b><\/p>

MQG protects public resources by uncovering financial misconduct, opposing crony capitalism, and fighting the influence of money in politics. Our investigations and legal actions have returned over 4.5 billion NIS <\/b>to the public \u2014 a landmark achievement in the battle for economic justice and governmental transparency.<\/p>


Campaigns for and by the People:<\/b><\/p>

Our independence and credibility make MQG a trusted voice for Israeli citizens. We organize major public campaigns, challenge anti-democratic legislation, and amplify civic demands for integrity and justice. From grassroots activism to Supreme Court petitions, our actions are guided by public interest \u2014 not political gain.<\/p>


Training and Educating:<\/b><\/p>

We believe democracy must be taught and lived. MQG educates thousands of young Israelis in high schools, youth movements, and pre-army programs each year \u2014 equipping the next generation with critical thinking, civic courage, and practical tools for activism.<\/p>


Protecting Whistleblowers:<\/b><\/p>

Our legal hotline empowers citizens to report abuses of power and anti-democratic violations. Each year, we receive hundreds of complaints, many of which lead to swift legal action or public exposure. We stand by whistleblowers \u2014 offering legal aid, protection, and a platform for accountability.<\/p>

MQG was a leading force in stopping a series of legislative initiatives that threatened Israel\u2019s democratic character. We fought to block the Override Clause, the cancellation of the offense of misconduct in public office, and the French Law aimed at granting retroactive immunity to the Prime Minister. We also led the fight against personal laws such as the Deri Law, the Ben-Gvir Law, and the Silman Law \u2014 all intended to reshape Israel\u2019s Basic Laws for narrow political purposes.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Our legal team petitioned the Supreme Court to prevent the appointment of Aryeh Deri to ministerial office despite past convictions, to strike down changes to the Police Law that subordinated law enforcement to political interests, and to block interventions by the Civil Service Commissioner on behalf of Netanyahu\u2019s associates. We also filed a petition demanding an updated conflict-of-interest arrangement for the Prime Minister, and led legal actions that challenged politicized dismissals of senior public legal advisors.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

MQG organized and led major national protests, including landmark demonstrations in Kaplan, Carmiel, and Jerusalem, as well as weekly actions on bridges and in public squares throughout the country. We mobilized tens of thousands in defense of judicial independence and democratic norms, while amplifying citizen voices through social media, podcasts, and national broadcasts.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We led efforts to resist legal initiatives designed to erode institutional checks and balances. This included fighting attempts to politicize judicial appointments, subordinate the police, and eliminate oversight mechanisms. Through coordinated protest, legal pressure, and public campaigns, we turned back multiple threats to the independence of the judiciary and the impartiality of state institutions.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We convened conferences with partners such as the Israel Women\u2019s Network and Adam Teva V\u2019Din, engaging retired judges, legal scholars, and civil society leaders in analyzing and resisting proposed legal reforms.
