The Movement for Quality Government in Israel: “The Minister of Justice has failed in all his attempts to harm the judicial system and weaken democracy”

Adv. Dr. Eliad Shraga: “Levin has notched up five total failures in his attempts to take control of the judicial system – it is time for him to resign”

The Movement for Quality Government in Israel welcomes the convening of the judicial appointments committee today and the expected selection of Justice Yitzhak Amit as president of the Supreme Court. This is a fitting end to an unnecessary saga that has lasted for over a year and a half, during which Justice Minister Yariv Levin tried in every possible way to prevent the proper and appropriate appointment.

“Justice Minister Yariv Levin has proven himself to be a resounding failure in all his moves – he failed in the ruling on the override clause, he failed on the reasonableness ruling, he failed to take control of the judicial appointments committee, and now he has also failed in his attempt to prevent the appointment of the president of the Supreme Court,” says Adv. Dr. Eliad Shraga, chair of the Movement.

“After five resounding failures, it is time for him to vacate his position and go home. A justice minister who behaves like a criminal and refuses to uphold Supreme Court rulings is unworthy of his position.”

״The Movement calls on the public to remain vigilant in light of the continued progress of the “Levin-Saar outline” and the dangerous bills being discussed in the Knesset Constitution Committee. “While the public is preoccupied with the war and the fate of the hostages, the government continues to advance the coup d’état with full force. We in the Movement will continue to stand guard and protect Israeli democracy with all means at our disposal.”
