The Movement for Quality Government in Israel on the police investigation into the diplomatic passport case: ‘this is an important step for establishing the facts and ensuring good governance’
The Movement for Quality Government in Israel welcomes the decision of the police to open an investigation into the issue of diplomatic passports at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is an important step in establishing the facts and ensuring good governance in government institutions. A few months ago we submitted a petition to the Supreme Court demanding the cancellation of the diplomatic passports issued to those with political connections, including the prime minister’s son, claiming that the decision was made contrary to the professional recommendations.
The suspicion of issuing diplomatic passports to those who are not entitled to them strengthens the claims we made in our petition and raises weighty questions about the procedures at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We call on all parties involved to fully cooperate with the investigation and expect that all information regarding the decision-making processes on this matter will be disclosed. The Movement will continue to follow closely the developments of the investigation and work tirelessly for high standards in public life and to prevent the misuse of public resources.
