The Movement for Quality Government attacks the candidacy of David Zini for the position of head of the Shin Bet: this is a serious violation of the rule of law and the rules of good governance, after the attorney general already determined that “the Prime Minister’s decision to appoint Major General Zini is tainted with a conflict of interest and is an invalid and illegal decision.”
A candidate about whom serious concerns are raised – reports about his improper conduct in the IDF and his dismissal by the Chief of Staff, concerns about the leakage of secret documents, and family ties to the prime minister’s associates – must not be allowed to serve as a gatekeeper in a sensitive and senior position. The Movement will continue to act with all legal tools at its disposal to ensure the appointment of the Shin Bet head in accordance with the rules of good governance and without any blemish in terms of his integrity.
