Chair of the Movement for Quality Government: “Right when the government is trying to eliminate the country’s top gatekeeper, the public is showing her that she is not alone in the fight for democracy”
The Movement for Quality Government in Israel launched today (Sunday) a national bus poster campaign across the country in support of the attorney general, Gali Baharav Miara, with the message “You’ll never walk alone!” The campaign went live just before the government voted to dismiss her, after a ministerial committee that has no authority recommended her dismissal in a process conducted without a substantive hearing.
The campaign will include dozens of buses across the country, and is part of the Movement’s broader campaign which includes a petition to the Supreme Court against changing the mechanism for dismissal. The Movement claims that the entire process stems from a blatant conflict of interest by Prime Minister Netanyahu and other ministers who are under criminal investigation, and that its goal is to create a complete politicization of the position of attorney general.

Our campaign will live just as the government is planning to vote on her dismissal – and this is no coincidence. We want the attorney general to see that the Israeli public stands by her and will not abandon her alone in the face of a government that is destroying democracy. This fight is about the future of Israeli democracy, and we will fight it on all fronts.”
