The Movement for Quality Government in Israel: The failure of the vote on expanding the number of reservists being called up is an opportunity for correction and implement true equality in recruitment

There is no justification for continuing to burden exhausted reserve soldiers while young people in the ultra-Orthodox community are avoiding service. The latest data presented in our petition to the High Court of Justice speaks for itself. Of the 20,000 draft orders sent only a few have actually been called so far. Any addition to the numbers of reservists called up before the effective recruitment of young ultra-Orthodox members is a violation of the principle of equality and harms those who do serve.

The government must implement the High Court of Justice ruling and recruit all draft-eligible young ultra-Orthodox before it burdens reservists.
