The threat to the life of the attorney general, about which Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef warned the police, is a direct result of the toxic atmosphere of incitement that Benjamin Netanyahu and Yariv Levin created against the country’s most senior gatekeeper. As we warned from the beginning turning the fight over the attorney general’s position into a personal struggle and the incessant incitement against her are leading to an extremely dangerous place where extremists allow themselves to physically harm her. The blood that will be shed here, God forbid, will be on the hands of those who created this atmosphere.
We demand that the Israel Police deal with this serious threat with the gravity it deserves and that all government officials immediately stop the incitement against the attorney general, making it clear that she enjoys the full protection of the state. Now more than ever, our message to her is relevant – you’ll never walk alone. Extremists must not be allowed to harm the country’s most senior law enforcement officer, and we continue to stand by her in the fight for the rule of law and her personal life.
