The Movement for Quality Government: Minister Eli Cohen treated public assets – diplomatic passports – as if they were his private assets, and distributed them to his associates for more votes in the primaries. This morning, finally, after the petition of the Movement for Quality Government demanding that Minister Eli Cohen be investigated and the passports he distributed collected, the police completed the investigation and transferred the case to the Attorney General’s Office.
These are extremely serious suspicions, against a minister who is suspected of having misused governmental power. This is an important day in the fight for the rule of law, and a stern warning to elected officials not to misuse governmental power and public assets.
We insist that Cohen be prosecuted in the affair, and that the diplomatic passport that was illegally granted to Prime Minister Yair Netanyahu’s son be immediately seized.
