“The court said what we claimed from the very beginning – a cloud hangs over the selection process due to the violation of the secrecy of the vote, and such a cloud must not hang over those entrusted with criticizing the government. The court intends to issue a conditional injunction on the issue of secrecy, and at the same time it proposed to the Knesset to hold a repeat vote – exactly the amendment we demanded in our petition. The ball is now in the Knesset’s court, which is required to respond to the proposal by Sunday. We will continue to monitor and work to ensure that the State Comptroller is elected in a clean and proper process, as required by law.”
