The Movement for Quality Government, which is petitioning against the law to remove the Ministry of Justice from the Prosecutor’s Office, welcomes the High Court’s decision to order the Minister of Justice to clarify whether he intends to advance the appointment of the head of the Ministry of Justice and other officeholders during the election period.

Chairman of the Movement for Quality Government, Attorney Dr. Eliad Shraga: “This is a clear and sharp signal from the High Court to the Minister of Justice. The High Court made it clear that the rules applicable to appointments during an election period cannot be ignored, especially when it comes to one of the most sensitive and important law enforcement positions. If the Minister chooses to advance the appointment despite the pending legal proceedings and despite the election period, the court will have to do so as part of the request for an interim order that we submitted. “The National Defense Commission must remain an independent body, and it is forbidden to determine facts on the ground before the court has ruled on the petition and before the public has had its say at the ballot box.”
