The Movement for Quality Government in Israel strongly condemns the brazen and defiant move by the prime minister, who, shortly after the Supreme Court ruled that the dismissal of the Shin Bet chief was illegal and a serious conflict of interest, and the attorney general instructed him not to engage in the appointment of a new Shin Bet head, showed his disdain for both and announced the appointment of David Zini to the position. This is an unprecedented disregard for the High Court’s ruling and the attorney general’s instructions, and continues the dangerous trend of undermining the rule of law for the sake of narrow personal interests. The Movement for Quality Government in Israel will submit another petition to the High Court of Justice in the coming days against this invalid appointment, and will continue to stand firm against attempts to defy the legal system and the rule of law in Israel.
